Registration year by license plate

Look up the first registration year returned for a license plate. Check the vehicle documents if you need a certified exact date.

Purpose

Find the year from the first registration date returned by the plate lookup.

How it works

The tool normalizes the plate and requests the vehicle lookup service. It extracts the year from the returned first registration date and displays available vehicle details. It does not estimate dates from plate letter ranges.

Usage example

Hypothetical example: if the lookup returned 2018-05-14 as the first registration date, the displayed year would be 2018 and the date would read 14/05/2018. No real plate was consulted for this example. The returned date does not by itself establish the year of manufacture.

Entering and checking the plate

Enter the vehicle plate you want to look up. The form uses uppercase and the lookup normalizes spaces and hyphens. For example, 1234-BCD illustrates an input format; it does not identify a verified vehicle or guarantee an available record for that combination.

  • Check letters and numbers against the documents before searching.
  • If an error appears, check the input and try again. A lookup failure does not prove an administrative vehicle issue.
  • If the date is missing, do not replace it with a guess based on the letter sequence. Check the documents or an appropriate official channel.

First registration, manufacture and imported vehicles

The year comes from the first registration field returned by the lookup. It is not certification of the manufacture year. For an imported vehicle, do not assume that date is its Spanish registration date: compare the dates and their meaning in the original and Spanish documents. This lookup does not guarantee that history.

Frequently asked questions

When the lookup returns a date, the result can show the year and available date. If you need evidence of the exact day, check the documents or an appropriate official report; this tool does not certify the information.

The date may be unavailable or the lookup may have failed. Check the plate and displayed message. A missing result does not establish that the vehicle does not exist, is recent or has a charge.

No. It extracts the year from a retrieved date; it does not estimate from plate series or deliver an official DGT report. Continue to the plate and registration-date guides to understand the data’s scope and how to check it.

Result limitations

  • A failed lookup or missing record date may prevent a result. The displayed year comes from the retrieved date, not an estimate based on plate sequences.
  • Check the vehicle documents if you need a certified exact date. This lookup is not an official DGT vehicle report or proof of ownership or history; the source does not certify the retrieved data.
