VMP certification, registration certificate and identification label explained
Distinguish VMP model certification, individual registration and the label, including the uncertified transition.

Identify which VMP document you need
There is no single Spanish VMP certificate that answers every question. Distinguish model certification, registration of your individual vehicle and its identification label. Start by identifying which document is missing; registering a unit does not itself turn its model into a certified model.
This guide explains the documents rather than offering registration for purchase. The Synexis VMP registration page remains Coming soon. To apply, use the official DGT channel and review the current instructions for your case.
Model certification versus individual registration
The DGT publishes certification information and certified models. A circulation certificate concerns model certification. Compare the exact make and model in your paperwork and the official list. Do not infer that a different version is covered merely because its name looks similar.
If a seller advertises a “DGT VMP certificate”, ask which document is actually supplied. An invoice, manual and photograph can help identify the scooter, but they should retain their real names. Naming a document clearly makes it easier to ask the next question and avoids treating unrelated papers as substitutes.
| Item | Question that distinguishes it |
|---|---|
| Model certification | Which exact model and version does it identify? |
| Unit registration | Which vehicle and holder does it concern? |
| Identification label | Does its number match the registration? |
| Purchase invoice | Which transaction and seller does it record? |
Registration number and certificate
The DGT registration portal generates an identification number and a downloadable digital PDF certificate after successful registration. That document concerns the registered unit. It is used to obtain the label from an authorised centre; this differs from certifying the model.
Retrieve the digital registration PDF
The official miDGT access lets you consult VMPs registered in your name and download their certificates. Open the relevant unit before downloading: its number identifies that particular vehicle even if you own another of the same model.
- Select your vehicle in the official consultation and download the complete certificate PDF.
- Compare the holder, technical details and identification number before supplying the document to obtain a label.
- Keep the PDF with the submission record, clearly separate from the payment receipt. If the file will not open, retrieve it through the official access point; an edited screenshot does not replace the document.
The identification label
The identification label displays the registration number. Before ordering it, compare the number on the certificate with the number you supply to the issuing centre. Do not dictate it from memory. Check the finished item before attaching it to the vehicle.
Ana, for example, has two similar scooters at home. She keeps a separate folder for each, including a photograph and its paperwork. When arranging the label, she opens the appropriate certificate rather than the most recently downloaded PDF. That reduces the risk of mixing vehicles that share a make or colour.
Uncertified vehicles and the transition
For an uncertified VMP, the portal provides exceptional temporary registration and gives 22 January 2027 as the end of validity for circulation. Check the particular vehicle's position before purchasing or registering. Temporary registration should not be read as an indefinite extension of use.
Check the model's circulation certificate
Before buying, ask for the technical certification paperwork and compare the model with the official list. Then check the unit's registration separately. If a document is missing, ask the seller or official channel what to supply before applying; temporary registration does not establish that the model has obtained technical certification.
Official channel and preparation
Prepare electronic identification, vehicle details, technical or photographic evidence as applicable, and information concerning ownership or representation. The portal distinguishes certified and uncertified models; check its current checklist, fee and access channel before starting.
- Identify model, individual vehicle and the question to resolve.
- Compare readable paperwork and photographs.
- Use the official submission channel where appropriate.
- Save the final certificate and check its details.
- Arrange the label using the correct number.
Keep the registration certificate with the technical paperwork for that unit. When you need another copy, return to the official consultation and compare the identification number before using it.
