DGT points: a free enquiry with official identification

DGT offers a points enquiry and statement service for holders of valid driving licences. You can check your balance and history and obtain the statements described at the official headquarters. You do not need to purchase a private service to access the free official enquiry.

This guide helps you choose a channel and understand which document you need. It does not calculate a balance from fines you tell us about or collect login credentials. An enquiry shows the information available in the system; it is not an individual assessment of every possible consequence of a penalty.

Choose an accepted channel

The official page describes access with a certificate, DNIe or Cl@ve, through miDGT, and through 060 with identity checks. The 060 channel provides only the remaining points balance; call charges may apply. Check the current requirements for your chosen route. If a received link asks you to send passwords or pay to “activate your points”, navigate through the official site before providing anything.

For a digital enquiry:

  1. Open the official page or app through your usual access.
  2. Check that you are in the points service.
  3. Identify yourself using an accepted system.
  4. Review the available balance and changes.
  5. If you need a document, select the appropriate statement.
  6. Save the result securely and log out on a shared device.

An identification error does not mean you have lost points. Likewise, do not invent a balance if the service returns no result.

Evidence with a different scopePage for the requested report or certificate

Do not confuse the service's free statements with a personalised driver certificate, which has a different scope and a fee. Before requesting a paid document, read what it establishes and what you have actually been asked for. A generic amount or an unfilled placeholder on a web card is not a verified fee.

Example: someone asks you for a document

Daniel needs evidence of his enquiry. He checks whether the current statement meets his need or whether he needs a detailed one. He does not pay for a different certificate just because its name sounds more official. If an organisation requires other evidence, he reads the request and compares it with the scope of the relevant document.

The example does not say every recipient must accept every statement. The document's usefulness depends on what needs proving and what the specific procedure requires.

If a change differs from what you expected

Record the detail, date and reference shown and consult the appropriate official channel. Do not assume that a recent notice has already had the same effect as a final penalty, or that a remembered figure is your current balance. For a particular file, read its documents before drawing conclusions.

This guide does not set out an individual points recovery, appeal or loss-of-validity procedure. If that is your problem, open its specific page: reading a balance and resolving an administrative situation are separate tasks.

Common mistakes

  • Paying for an enquiry that the official headquarters offers free.
  • Sending credentials or a statement to a website that does not need them.
  • Confusing an official balance with a calculation made by adding up fines.
  • Requesting a certificate without checking what it proves.
  • Treating a technical error as confirmation that your points have changed.

Keep only what you need and use official channels for personal information and follow-up. Synexis does not handle this enquiry or ask for your balance to show this guide.
